Let’s Keep Ruidoso Safe

The Village of Ruidoso currently has no additional fire restrictions in effect. As the fire danger increases, certain fire restrictions may take effect, in order to better protect our village from wildfire dangers. Fire dangers are rated as either Low, Medium, High or Extreme and are posted throughout town in addition to newspaper and radio alerts

Burning Forest

The beautiful forest surrounding our community can become extremely volatile and highly susceptible to wild fire, especially during the drier seasons. Please be careful with any potential ignition sources.

Fire House 1948

The Ruidoso Fire Dept. was founded in 1948 as an all volunteer organization, with 3 trucks and 1 station, located in midtown Ruidoso. In 1966 the Village hired its first 3 paid firefighters.

Today the Ruidoso Fire Department has 13 vehicles positioned at 3 separate manned stations and 2 volunteer sub-stations around town. Current staff consists of 19 full-time paid personnel and 9 volunteers.

Funding is being sought for construction of a new station 1, which would likely be located at School House Park in the current location of the Bob Moore Station. Bob Moore Station may be moved toward the east end of town, possibly below Camelot.
