Joe S. Magill - Chief of Police #601
Joe S. Magill began his Law Enforcement career in 1975 when he joined the Roswell, NM Police Department. During his eight years with Roswell PD, he not only attained the rank of Patrol Sergeant, but was able to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. In August of 1985, the Federal Bureau of Investigation recruited Joe and he was assigned as a Special Agent in the Atlanta, GA division for the next ten years. Joe was then transferred to the Roswell Resident Agency, an Albuquerque Division of the FBI, and was the Senior Resident Agent assigned to handle Indian Country crimes on the Mescalero Apache Reservation near Ruidoso. In 1997, Joe moved to Ruidoso to be closer to his work area. After 21 years of distinguished service with the FBI, Joe retired in February of 2006. He then began a new career with the Mescalero Apache Tribe as Assistant Director of Security and was later promoted to Director of Security. In 2007, Joe S. Magill joined the Ruidoso Police Department as a Patrol Officer until April of 2010 when he was appointed as Chief of Police. |
