The Ruidoso Police Department utilizes "Tanja", a narcotics detection canine, to assist Patrol Officers in locating illegal narcotics. Tanja is a Belgian Malinois and has been our K-9 for nearly a decade. She is trained in detecting Marijuana, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin and specific drugs which contain their derivitives. Officer Matt Christian is her handler.
