Ray Merritt began his Law Enforcement career in 1988 in the US Army as a Military Policeman. During his military career, Ray was stationed in Fort Lewis, WA, Honduras, Panama and South Korea. After his military service, he was hired at the Ruidoso Police Department in December of 1998 as a Patrol Officer. During his career with the Ruidoso Police Department, Ray was promoted to Corporal and then Sergeant. Ray was assigned to the Lincoln County Narcotics Enforcement Unit and served as the supervisor of the RPD Criminal Investigations Division. Ray Merritt was promoted to the position of the Department's Operations Lieutenant in January of 2011.
