ATTENTION UPPER CANYON RESIDENTS
MAIN ROAD NO. 1 BRIDGE PROJECT
A community meeting will be held on February 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Upper Canyon Fire Station #3 to kick-off the Main Road No. 1 Bridge Project in the Upper Canyon. All interested citizens are invited to attend and view displays, ask questions and make comments about the proposed replacement of the Main Road Bridge.
Zia Engineering and Village of Ruidoso representatives will be available to answer project-related questions as they introduce the project scope, timeline, and go over details about the project. The project will widen the existing bridge which has been badly damaged over the years during flood events, ultimately making it safer for all residents as the wider bridge will allow for more vehicles to move in and out of the Upper Canyon in the event of an emergency.
“The current bridge is at best about 1 ½ lanes, and when you meet oncoming traffic, it is almost impossible for two cars to pass on the bridge. The new bridge will make the Main Bridge three lanes wide which will give us more capacity to move large equipment through the area when needed for projects or in the event of emergencies or evacuations,” said JR Baumann, Director of Utilities for the Village of Ruidoso.
In case any residents are unable to attend this meeting, the same presentation will also be given at the regularly scheduled Village Council meeting on Tuesday, March 14th.
