Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Public Information Notice - March 3, 2020

VILLAGE OF RUIDOSO REMAINS ON ALERT WITH REGARDS TO NOVEL CORONAVIRUS

RUIDOSO, NM – March 3, 2020 – Mayor Lynn Crawford has issued a statement regarding the Village of Ruidoso’s preparedness with regards to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak:

“We are currently monitoring all of the information that is being passed along to us by the New Mexico Department of Health. They have plans in place to accommodate the many issues related to any spread of this virus including hospital patient overflow and hospital bed capacity in the state as well as the availability of facemasks, respirators and other personal protective equipment needed for infection control.

More importantly, since there are no known cases in our state at this point, we would ask that individuals in our community practice common-sense daily habits to staying healthy which include:

  • Washing your hands thoroughly and often with soap

  • Keeping your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth

  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue or into the crook of your arm

  • Throw used tissues in the trash

  • Avoid contact with sick people

  • Clean and disinfect objects that you touch regularly

The Village of Ruidoso and our officials are currently working in conjunction with officials at Lincoln County Medical Center (LCMC), Lincoln County Emergency Management Services, all local law enforcement agencies, and the local school district.

We will keep you advised of any new updates from the NMDOH on the VOR website (www.ruidoso-nm.gov) and on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/villageofruidoso/). In addition, other valuable resources that are constantly being updated are available at the CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) and the New Mexico Department of Health website (https://cv.nmhealth.org/).”
