Join Ruidoso Parks & Recreation for American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Session 4, held May 2–3 and May 9–10, 2026. Participants ages 16+ will learn water rescue techniques, CPR, and first aid while earning lifeguard certification. The $100 course fee is refunded once participants begin working as Village of Ruidoso lifeguards. Register online under the Activities & Programs tab.
Keep Ruidoso Beautiful and Parks and Recreation is hosting a Great American Cleanup at Wingfield Park on May 3, 2026, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Food and prize giveaways for volunteers. Registration begins at 12:30 pm. Gloves, vests, bags, and t-shirts are provided.

Join the Community Flood Risk and Resilience Workshop in Ruidoso on May 6, 2026, from 6–8 PM at the Ruidoso Convention Center. Learn how to prepare for flash flooding, heavy rain, and monsoon season risks.
The Ruidoso Police Department’s Spring 2026 Citizens Police Academy runs March 5–May 7, 2026, on Thursdays from 6–9 PM. This multi-week program offers residents a behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement. Graduation is May 15. Apply by February 26, 2026.

Celebrate the 5th Annual Día Celebration (Children’s Day/Book Day) on May 9, 2026, from 11 AM–3 PM at the Ruidoso Convention Center. This free, family-friendly event by Ruidoso Public Library features kids’ activities, free books, live entertainment, and local resources supporting literacy, culture, and community.

Join the Time Turner History Book Club for its May meeting at the Ruidoso Public Library. This month’s discussion features Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford, an engaging history of the Mongol leader and the global legacy of his empire. Meet on May 14, 2026, at 12:30 pm in the Library Conference Room. A limited number of books are available for checkout.

Attend the Community Flood Risk and Resilience Workshop in Ruidoso on May 20, 2026, from 6–8 PM. Gain essential flood preparedness skills and learn how to respond to monsoon season and burn scar runoff risks.
Join Bird Secrets at Wingfield Heritage House Museum on May 23 from 10 AM–Noon. This free family event features a habitat-themed scavenger hunt, hands-on crafts like hummingbird feeders and sun catchers, and take-home birding items for kids.
Open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, the Wibit Water Park at Grindstone Lake is a floating, inflatable summer attraction in Ruidoso. Open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM–6 PM, it offers family-friendly fun alongside lake activities like swimming, fishing, and picnicking. Admission fees apply.
The Ruidoso Municipal Swimming Pool opens Memorial Day Weekend 2026 at 515 Sudderth Drive. Enjoy affordable family fun with public swim, waterslide access, and pool party rentals throughout the summer. Admission is $5 per person, with public swimming available through early August. Village of Ruidoso offices and facilities will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of the national holiday. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
Register for the Full Moon Night excursion hosted by Ruidoso Parks & Recreation. This fee-based trip includes round-trip transportation from Ruidoso to White Sands National Park. Event timing is subject to change. Sign up through the official Parks & Rec catalog online.
Kids College at ENMU–Ruidoso returns June 1–5, 2026, with hands-on learning for children. Choose full-day (8 AM–5 PM) or half-day sessions (8 AM–12 PM or 1–5 PM). Pre-register by May 1 to reserve your child’s spot.
