Creating a PreparingNewMexico.org Account

This site is intended to assist New Mexico agencies and organizations with a Homeland Security or Emergency Management role. If your agency or organization is not based in New Mexico, you may still register for a user account. Preference will be given to New Mexico agencies and organizations.

1. Visit https://www.preparingnewmexico.org/

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNT: Click the blue ‘Create Account’ text. You will see a pop-up titled ‘Register for a User Account.’ Click the ‘Start Creating Account’ button at the bottom.

IF YOU THINK YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT: Click ‘Forgot Password?’ in the top left corner of the screen. A pop-up screen will appear. Enter the information it asks, then click ‘Reset Password’ at the bottom of the pop-up.

2. Basic Personal Information (1/6)

Fill in as many fields as you can and click ‘Next’ at the bottom when finished. While only the fields with bolded labels are required, we highly recommend you add your date of birth and FEMA SID for account verification and recovery!

Your username is the only field that can never be changed. For this reason, we do not recommend using your email as your username. Consider using a combination of your first, middle, and last names with easy-to-remember numbers.

3. Work Address (2/6)

Fill in your work information. Only the fields with bolded labels are required. Click ‘Next’

4. Home Address (3/6)

Filling in your home address is optional. You can leave these fields black if you wish. Click ‘Next’

5. Indicating Your Discipline (4/6)

Click the dropdown menu next to ‘Choose Discipline’ and select your area of employment. Then, enter your job title next to ‘Position/Title’.

Adding a secondary and/or tertiary discipline is optional. If you would like to add one, click the check box next to ‘Secondary’ or ‘Tertiary’ and enter your information. Click ‘Next’.

6. Indicating your Discipline (5/6)

Check the respective boxes if you would like to receive email updates regarding training opportunities. Click ‘Next’.

7. Request Account (6/6)

Click ‘Request Account’. This will automatically activate your account.

8. Log In

At the top of preparingnewmexico.org, click ‘Log In.’ In the pop-up, type in your username and password, then click the ‘Log In’ button.
