Ruidoso Residents Invited to Participate in Southeast New Mexico Regional Housing Plan

October 21, 2026 (RUIDOSO, NM) — The Village of Ruidoso is encouraging residents and community organizations to participate in the Southeast New Mexico Regional Housing Plan, a five-county initiative designed to better understand local housing needs and develop practical strategies communities can use to guide future housing decisions.

The regional planning effort brings together communities across Chaves, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln, and Otero counties. The process is expected to continue from September 2026 through summer 2027 and will examine housing needs and challenges across Southeast New Mexico while recognizing each community's different circumstances.

The planning process is intended to result in a Strategy & Funding Toolkit tailored to local communities and housing dynamics. Local governments will be able to use and adopt the plan, while residents and community organizations have opportunities to provide input.

A regional approach can also help communities better position themselves when pursuing grants, funding, and other investments that address housing needs.

Share Your Input

Community participation is an important part of the planning process. Ruidoso residents, businesses, organizations, and other community members are encouraged to learn more and share their perspectives on local housing needs.
