Traffic Notice: Midtown Halloween Event Road Closure October 29
The Ruidoso Police Department will provide traffic control to ensure the safety of participants, visitors, pedestrians, and spectators during the Midtown Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 3:15 to 6:30 PM.
Highway 48 (Sudderth Drive) will be closed between North/South Grindstone Drive and Country Club Drive. Motorists should follow posted detours.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the event.
Affected Intersections (Highway 48 / Sudderth Drive Closure Area)
• North & South Grindstone Canyon Drive
• Chase Street
• Center Street
• Eagle Drive
• Country Club Drive
Closure period: 3:15 PM – 6:30 PM, Wednesday, October 29, 2025
Location: Highway 48 (Sudderth Drive) between North/South Grindstone Canyon Drive and Country Club Drive
Post-Event Traffic Management: Following the conclusion of the event, officers will facilitate the safe and efficient reopening of Highway 48 at Chase Drive, North and South Grindstone, Eagle Drive, Center Street, and Country Club intersections and manage traffic flow as needed.
Detour Guidance
• Northbound traffic: Use Eagle Drive or Country Club Drive to bypass the closure and reconnect to Highway 48 north of Midtown.
• Southbound traffic: Use North or South Grindstone Canyon Drive to detour around the closed section and rejoin Highway 48 near Chase Street.
• Local access: Detour signage will guide motorists around Midtown and toward alternate side streets. Please watch for officers and posted directional signs.
• Emergency vehicles: Full access will be maintained throughout the event.
