Community Development Update: 603 Mechem Drive Workforce Housing Project

April 27, 2026 (Ruidoso, NM) — The Village of Ruidoso is pleased to share that construction of the 603 Mechem Workforce Housing Development is approaching completion—an important step in expanding long-term, affordable housing options for local residents and the broader community.

Supported by state legislative appropriation funds, the project also recently secured additional grant funding to enhance paving and siding. Visible progress continues across the site, with roadway millings in place and paving work initiated by Rymarc Construction in April. Rymarc will also complete updates to roofing and exterior siding on the cabins.

Landscaping efforts are well underway, with gravel installed in front yard areas and walkways now in place. Crews will return to complete planting in the coming phase. Electrical infrastructure is progressing as well, with five meters installed and three awaiting connection by PNM. TriWest Fence is scheduled to paint the interior side of the metal fencing.

Two homes are currently pending final inspection from the Manufactured Housing Division following the completion of additional grading work.

This project reflects an ongoing commitment to strengthening housing availability for Ruidoso’s workforce. The Village appreciates the community’s patience as final steps are completed and looks forward to welcoming residents to the development soon.
