McBride Fire Update, April 13, 2:00 pm
CURRENT FIRE SITUATION: Mandatory evacuations remain in place in the following areas: Moon Mountain Area: High Loop, Lupin, Starlight etc.; Gavilan Canyon: From Meander to Lower Eagle Creek; East of Hull: McBride, Snowcap, Timberline, Fawn Ridge etc.; Homestead Acres/Lower Eagle Creek; Rancho Ruidoso Valley Estates, Deer Valley, Deer Park, and Alto East of Flute Player
McBride Fire Update, April 13, 9 am
CURRENT FIRE SITUATION: Crews are working on multiple fronts on point protection and to secure structures. Crews in the Moon Mountain area were able to hold the ridge south of Gavilan and north of Paradise Canyon with a dozer line to keep it from progressing into Paradise Canyon and Meander. In the area of Homestead, Gavilan Canyon and Fawn Ridge, crews are working on point protection and securing structures and working to connect and constructing fire line to control fire progress. In the lower Eagle Creek area, fire impacted multiple structures, and crews are working on point protection. Eagle Ridge is the furthest point the fire has reached. The fire continues to spread to the northeast. Air tactical support was not able to fly on Tuesday due to extreme 60+ mph winds. Air tankers are available and will be used when and where possible. Fire activity is expected to increase this afternoon as temperatures and winds increase.
MCBRIDE FIRE UPDATE, April 12 at 9:00 p.m.
MCBRIDE FIRE UPDATE at 9:00 p.m.: Attached is the current fire map. The fire remains at 0% containment. 150+ structures and houses have been lost and 4,132 acres have burned. We continue to experience power outages in the area. At this time we don't have an estimated time for the power to be restored.
McBride Fire, April 12, Evening Update
MCBRIDE FIRE UPDATE at 7:00 p.m.: An air attack update has decreased the estimated acreage to 3,000. At this time 150 homes and structures have been lost. This is an active fire and is at 0% contained.

Ruidoso, Tuesday, April 12, 2022, 3:06 PM: There has been a fire start on McBride Dr. It has jumped to Gavilan Canyon Rd and is currently headed north towards Eagle Creek and Homestead Acres. If you live in those areas please evacuate should go to the Ruidoso Convention Center.
Fire Update: Ruidoso Schools Evacuated
The Ruidoso Schools have evacuated all students from Sierra Vista and White Mountain to the Ruidoso Convention Center. Students from the Ruidoso Middle School and Ruidoso High School are being taken there by bus as well.
Residents asked to conserve water during power outage
NEWS ALERT: Residents are asked to please conserve water at this time because we are limited in our production efforts with the current power outages. Parts of town may experience a loss of pressure or total outage. We will provide additional updates when we have them.
South Grindstone Canyon Culvert Replacement Project
The Village of Ruidoso Street Department will be replacing a culvert on the following road South Grindstone Canyon Road beginning Monday, April 11, 2022. Closure will be in place until work is completed.
Hull Road Guardrail Replacement Project - Road Closure
The Village will be replacing guardrail on both sides of Hull Road at the Cedar Creek crossing. Hull Road will be closed in both directions from Paradise Canyon Drive to Royal Drive from April 11- April 24, 2022.
Statewide adult-use cannabis sales start April 1, 2022
The Cannabis Control Division of the Regulation and Licensing Department on Thursday, in advance of the Friday, April 1, 2022, start of adult-use cannabis sales in New Mexico, provided guidance to consumers they need to safely participate in this new market.

Village of Ruidoso steering committee seeks public input on Moon Mountain Recreation Area plan
Ruidoso residents are asked to provide feedback on a long-range Moon Mountain outdoor recreation plan. 2022 Legislative Capital Outlay Projects
The 2022 Legislative Session has concluded, and as a result of the 30-day session, various capital outlay projects were authorized. The Governor has approved the bill, and the Village of Ruidoso will receive funding for the following projects.
2022 New Mexico Film Office/ Stowe Story Labs Screenwriting Program
The New Mexico Film Office and Stowe Story Labs are presenting a 3-part writing program for 10 New Mexicans interested in developing a feature film or TV script. Participants will be selected through a competitive application process. The application deadline is April 6. Learn more >>
BLM plans prescribed burn activities in Chaves and Lincoln counties
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will conduct prescribed fire operations beginning this week and lasting through May. The agency plans to burn approximately 1,400 acres throughout Chaves and eastern Lincoln counties (weather dependent) and will take several days to complete. Smoke from the burn may be visible from nearby communities.
Server and Network Maintenance: March 25 - 28, 2022
The Village of Ruidoso will perform system maintenance to servers and network equipment as part of the Village Hall construction project beginning at 1 PM Friday, March 25, 2022, and ending on the morning of Monday, March 28, 2022, Mountain Time Zone. The following services will be affected during the dates and times above as follows.
Water leak detection work throughout the village
Wachs Water Services will be doing leak detection work on Grindstone Canyon Road, First and Second Streets, and Meander Drive. Please look for signs indicating work area and approach with caution at a very slow speed.
