Cedar Creek Area Closed Due to Flood Hazards on Smokey Bear Ranger District

July 9, 2025— The Lincoln National Forest has placed a closure Order for the area of Cedar Creek on the Smokey Bear Ranger District. This Order serves to protect public health and safety as monsoonal flood events have become hazardous in this area.

This order is effective from July 9, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. until September 30, 2025, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.

Closed Areas Include:

  • Trailheads/Access Points: Cedar Creek trailhead, Fitness Trail trailhead, Perk Canyon trailhead, and Cedar Creek West trailhead (end of Cedar Creek).  

  • Developed Recreation Sites: Cedar Creek Day Use and Sam Tobias Group Sites.

  • Trails: Trail 13 North Cedar Creek, Trail 90 Fitness Trail, Trail 92 Perk Canyon, Trail 93 Perk Ridge, Trail 93A Ranger, Trail 120A Lower Cedar Creek, and Trail 120C Beginner Loop (See attached map).

The Forest Service is working closely with local departments and county officials to coordinate response and recovery efforts.
