IRONMAN 70.3 Race Weekend Traffic Information & Road Closures
July 7, 2026 (Ruidoso, NM) — The Village of Ruidoso encourages residents to plan ahead as the community prepares to host IRONMAN® 70.3 Ruidoso on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12.
The Village and the IRONMAN Operations Team have developed a traffic management plan designed to balance athlete safety while maintaining access for residents, businesses, hotels, medical facilities, and visitors. While temporary road closures, lane shifts, and traffic delays will occur during race weekend, most roads will remain open and traffic will continue moving under the direction of law enforcement.
Emergency response remains the highest priority throughout the event. Ambulances, fire apparatus, and law enforcement vehicles will always receive immediate access, and Lincoln County Medical Center will remain fully operational during race weekend.
What Residents Should Know
Residents will continue to have access to homes, neighborhoods, businesses, hotels, restaurants, and churches throughout the event. In some locations, alternate routes or brief waits directed by law enforcement may be required.
Most traffic impacts are expected on Sunday, July 12, when portions of the bike and run courses will be active throughout the community. Drivers should allow additional travel time, follow directions from law enforcement and traffic control personnel, and use extra caution when entering or exiting businesses located along the race course.
