Village of Ruidoso Reduces Fire Restrictions to Level I Effective July 20, 2026
July 20, 2026 (Ruidoso, NM) — Effective 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, the Village of Ruidoso has reduced fire restrictions from Level II to Level I following improved fire conditions.
The decision reflects recent improvements in local conditions while recognizing that wildfire risk remains. Residents and visitors are encouraged to continue using caution with any activity that could spark a wildfire.
What Changes Under Level I?
Level I restrictions allow some outdoor activities that were prohibited under Level II while continuing measures to reduce wildfire risk.
Under Level I Fire Restrictions:
Commercial fire pits approved by the Fire Marshal are permitted.
Outdoor cooking is allowed using all types of cooking appliances, including charcoal grills.
Non-permitted fire pits, campfires, and fireworks remain prohibited within the Village of Ruidoso unless specifically authorized by the Fire Marshal.
Citations will be issued for violations of the Village’s fire restrictions. No exceptions. No warnings.
Fire Restrictions Can Change
Fire conditions are monitored continuously, and restriction levels may be increased or reduced as weather, vegetation, and fire danger change. Residents and visitors are encouraged to check the current restriction level before using outdoor fire features or cooking equipment.
