Ruidoso Police Department Announces Spring 2026 Citizens Police Academy
February 13, 2026 (Ruidoso, NM) — The Ruidoso Police Department (RPD) is now accepting applications for its Spring 2026 Citizens Police Academy (CPA), offering residents a behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement operations and community policing efforts.
The program will run March 5 through May 7, 2026, meeting every Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ruidoso Police Department. A graduation ceremony will be held on May 15, 2026.
The Citizens Police Academy is designed to build stronger relationships between officers and the community by providing participants with insight into departmental procedures, investigations, patrol operations, and public safety practices. Through hands-on demonstrations and classroom instruction, attendees gain a deeper understanding of the responsibilities and challenges law enforcement professionals face.
Application Deadline: February 26, 2026
Who May Apply: The Citizens Police Academy is open to individuals age 18 and older who live or work in the Village of Ruidoso and meet eligibility requirements. Applicants must demonstrate good character and meet background criteria. Class size is limited, and applications are subject to review and approval.
