Village of Ruidoso Seeks Damage Reports After January Winter Storm to Support Disaster Assistance Eligibility
January 25, 2026 (Ruidoso, NM) —The Village of Ruidoso is asking residents and business owners whose property was damaged during the January 2026 winter storm to complete an Individual Assistance Survey, a key step in helping the community qualify for state and federal disaster assistance.
The survey is part of the Village’s official damage assessment process and plays a critical role in helping state and local emergency management officials determine the full extent of storm-related impacts across the community. Once submitted, damage reports will be reviewed and validated by the Ruidoso Office of Emergency Management in coordination with State officials.
Collecting this information helps determine whether New Mexico may qualify for disaster recovery resources, including potential eligibility for the Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Assistance Loan Program. If the SBA receives enough eligible reports to support a disaster declaration, low-interest loans may become available to qualifying homeowners, renters, and businesses in affected areas.
What to Report
Residents and business owners are encouraged to report:
• The location of the damaged property
• The type and level of damage sustained
• Photographs documenting the damage
The survey can be completed online using the Village’s Individual Assessment Tool.
How to Submit
Visit the Village’s damage reporting page to access the survey and additional information: https://arcg.is/0409vy1
Community participation is essential. Even if damage appears minor, submitting a report helps ensure that the full scope of the winter storm’s impact is accurately documented and that Ruidoso has access to all available recovery resources.
