Friday, February 16, 2018: Heavy rains event prevented work as the river running at 80 CFS in the morning (35,907 GPM), and by the afternoon it was up to 200 CFS (89,767 GPM).
Main Road Bridge Replacement Update #5 - February 16, 2018
Friday, February 9, 2018: Roper Construction continued to haul off overburden to the Grindstone site to run through the grizzly and separate rock. The contractor is bringing a small excavator with Teledyne to complete rock removal at the north headwall, and George Esqueda from Zia Engineering was on-site doing inspections.

Main Road Bridge Replacement #4 - February 9, 2018
Friday, February 2, 2018: It was determined that a gas line was in the way of the footings for headwalls, and Zia Natural Gas Company was contacted. They made the decision that the line could be relocated, and in an effort to expedite the process, Roper Construction would do the digging, and then Zia Gas would move the gas line on Tuesday 2-6-18.
Main Road Bridge Replacement #3 - February 2, 2018
Crews completed the removal of both head walls and continued hauling off waste material as efforts continued to break-up larger pieces of concrete around the structure.
Main Road Bridge Construction Update #2 - January 26, 2018
Roper Construction began work on the Main Road Bridge on Monday, January 22, 2018, with the actual road closure occurring at 8:00 AM. The detour route began evolving with citizen and business owner input as the Village met with the NMDOT to take suggestions for the detour route.
Phone & Internet Outage in All Village Offices 1/25-26
Due to a server upgrade, phone and Internet services in all Village offices will be interrupted on January 25th and 26th. All 911 and emergency phone services will be operating normally.
Main Road Bridge Construction Update #1 - January 19, 2018
Construction on the Main Road Bridge in the Upper Canyon is set to begin on Monday, January 22. Crews from Roper Construction will be working Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM for approximately 120 days to complete the project. These times can vary due to inclement weather and longer days.

Road Closure - Grindstone Canyon Dr. & Drooping Juniper Rd.
Grindstone Canyon Drive and Drooping Juniper Road will be closed to through traffic from January 4th - January 12th while the VOR works on a sewer line extension project.
Main Road Bridge Construction Coming - January 2018
The Main Road Bridge Project is set to kick-off in January 2018. There will be a lot of information coming out over the next few weeks about construction schedules, detour routes, and how to navigate the Upper Canyon during the project. Keep checking this page for updates.

State Land Commissioner Aubrey Dunn and Ruidoso Mayor Tom Battin signed a 25-year lease today which will protect one of New Mexico’s most scenic and historic landscapes, bolster recreation on Moon Mountain, and advance eco-tourism in the Village of Ruidoso.

Notice of Public Comment Period for UAA Extended to February 16th
The Village of Ruidoso and City of Ruidoso Downs Regional Wastewater Treatment Plan Joint Use Board (JUB) have extended the public comment period on the draft Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) and proposed amendments to the surface water quality standards (20.6.4. NMAC) for the lower Rio Ruidoso and upper Rio Hondo in Lincoln County, New Mexico to December 19, 2017.

Smokey Bear District Pile Burn Planned for September 18, 2017
If the cooler temperatures and higher humidity materialize as is currently forecasted, the Village plans to burn about 10 acres of hand piles above Grindstone Lake on Monday, September 18, 2017. This is a small unit but is an important piece to work off from in the near future. It is also a part of our Cooperative Prescribed Burn Program which may include both Ruidoso Fire Department and Mescalero Tribe.
