Ruidoso welcomes athletes, families, and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world for the 2026 XTERRA World Championship , October 8–11. The milestone event celebrates XTERRA's 30th anniversary and the championship's return to the United States, bringing elite off-road triathlon and trail running competition to Grindstone Lake and the surrounding trail system.

Community Events & Public Activities

Even if you're not competing, residents and visitors are invited to be part of the championship experience. Throughout XTERRA World Championship week, enjoy free yoga sessions, guided hikes, community line dancing, live music, food trucks, and the Welcome Celebration featuring a free Phil Hamilton concert. Some activities require advance registration through XTERRA.

Plan Ahead

Increased activity and temporary traffic impacts are expected around Grindstone Lake and other event venues throughout championship week. Please allow extra travel time and watch for event signage and traffic control personnel as needed.
