Village of Ruidoso Marks One Year of Recovery Since South Fork Fire

RUIDOSO, NM – June 17, 2025 – One year ago, the South Fork and Salt Fires changed Ruidoso forever. Thousands were evacuated, and first responders from across the region worked tirelessly to protect lives and property. The fires—and the flooding that followed—left lasting scars, but they also revealed the strength, generosity, and endurance of this community.

Since then, recovery has been steady. Homes are being rebuilt, infrastructure restored, and new safeguards put in place. Most of all, the resilience and compassion of Ruidoso’s residents and allies have carried the community forward.
