Ruidoso Fire Department Releases New Business Fire Inspection Checklist

December 10, 2025 (Ruidoso, NM)—The Ruidoso Fire Department has released a New Business Fire Inspection Checklist to help business owners prepare for their final fire inspection before opening to the public. The checklist was presented to the Village Council this week and is now available for download on the Fire Department webpage.

Designed to reduce delays and streamline the approval process, the checklist highlights the most common fire code concerns inspectors encounter—from exits and emergency lighting to fire extinguishers, electrical safety, housekeeping, and commercial kitchen requirements. Because each business classification may have unique needs, additional items may still be identified during the inspection.

Business owners are encouraged to schedule their final fire inspection at least three weeks before their projected opening date. Inspections can be arranged by calling (575) 257-3473.
