Community Meeting Scheduled March 25 on Emergency Watershed Protection Program (EWP)

March 21, 2026 (Ruidoso, NM) — Lincoln County and partner agencies will host an open community meeting on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 5:00 PM at ENMU–Ruidoso (709 Mechem Drive) to share information about the NRCS Emergency Watershed Protection Program (EWP) and its Voluntary Property Buyout Program.

The meeting is part of ongoing recovery efforts following the South Fork Fire and 2024 flooding, and will provide residents with an opportunity to better understand available options, ask questions, and offer input.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Overview of recovery efforts following the South Fork Fire and 2024 flooding

  • Introduction to potential property buyout options

  • General eligibility and participation process

  • What participation could mean for property owners and residents

  • Timeline and next steps

  • Opportunity for questions and public input

Community members are encouraged to attend—particularly those impacted by flooding or erosion, as well as anyone interested in local recovery efforts.
