Flood Preparedness Workshops for Ruidoso Residents Ahead of Monsoon Season

March 25, 2026 (Ruidoso, NM) — The Village of Ruidoso Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with the National Weather Service, will host a series of Community Flood Risk and Resilience Workshops to help residents prepare for the 2026 monsoon season.

These sessions are designed to provide clear, practical information about local flood risks, including heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and increased runoff from recent burn scars. Attendees will learn how to interpret weather alerts, prepare their homes and families, and respond safely during rapidly changing conditions.

Following the devastating 2025 floods in the Ruidoso area, these workshops offer residents an opportunity to better understand current risks and take proactive steps ahead of the upcoming season.

Monsoon season can bring intense storms and fast-moving water, especially in areas impacted by wildfire. These workshops are an opportunity for residents to better understand their risk and take simple steps that can make a meaningful difference.

Workshops are scheduled for:

  • May 6, 2026 – Ruidoso Convention Center (Room 6), 6:00–8:00 PM

  • May 20, 2026 – Ruidoso Convention Center (Room 5), 6:00–8:00 PM

  • June 3, 2026 – Village Emergency Operations Center (Room 146), 6:00–8:00 PM

Residents are encouraged to attend the session that works best for their schedule.
