The Village of Ruidoso is warning Planning Commission applicants about fraudulent fee invoices that may use official-looking Village branding and case-specific information. The invoices did not originate from the Village, and Planning Commission fees are currently waived.
A new exhibit at Wingfield Heritage House Museum brings 1950s Ruidoso into focus through historic photographs by Carmon Phillips. Visitors can get their first look during the museum’s 2nd Anniversary Celebration on October 22.
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Learn how to recognize messages that falsely claim to be from the Village of Ruidoso and how to verify suspicious communications, payment requests, and other information through official Village sources.
The Village of Ruidoso Automated Speed Enforcement Program is active at multiple locations to improve roadway safety and encourage compliance with posted speed limits. More than 1,800 speeding citations have been issued since July 26, 2026, with citation enforcement currently active on Junction Road, Paradise Canyon Drive, and Hull Road. Citations may be issued for vehicles traveling 11 mph or more above the posted speed limit. The citation amount is $100, with no points assessed on driving records.
The October 2026 Ruidoso Insider features AspenFest and fall community updates, the XTERRA World Championship, utility rate information, Village Council actions, the Outdoor Economics Conference, community safety programs, local school and healthcare news, and an October and November events lineup including Midtown Halloween and the Ruidoso Christmas Jubilee.
New Mexico has lifted statewide fire restrictions following recent rainfall, but the Village of Ruidoso remains under Level I Fire Restrictions. Restrictions on the surrounding Lincoln National Forest and other public lands may differ by jurisdiction.
Traffic control for the 2026 AspenFest Parade begins Saturday, October 3. Roads along the parade route will close at 9:30 a.m., with no traffic permitted after 9:45 a.m. for the 10:00 a.m. parade. Detours will be in place around Midtown, and roads will reopen following the parade. Plan ahead for delays and alternate routes.
Help keep Ruidoso-area neighbors warm this winter. Donate new or gently used coats and warm-weather items October 1, 2026, through January 18, 2027, at participating community drop-off locations.
Celebrate the Wingfield Heritage House Museum’s second anniversary on Thursday, October 22, from 5:00–7:00 PM with live music, food, and a first look at the new Carmon Phillips Exhibit. Admission is free.
Lincoln National Forest has completed its 2026 reforestation season, planting more than 40,500 seedlings in the Blue 2 Fire scar and advancing long-term recovery planning for areas affected by the Blue 2 and South Fork fires.
The Toss No Mas Community Clean-Up will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Wingfield Park from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Trash bags, gloves, snacks, and drinks will be provided. The Rio Ruidoso Watershed-Based Plan Revised Final Draft is open for public comment through October 2, 2026. The plan outlines strategies to improve water quality and protect regional watersheds and would open funding channels through NMED and EPA. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to review the plan and submit comments.
