Main road bridge update #9

3-16-18

[Project Update]

Friday, March 9, 2018: We received word from Terracon Testing labs that the 3-day concrete test passed, and  we also received confirmation from Zia Engineering which allows crews to get back to work.

Monday, March 12, 2018:  Crews began removing forms and started backfilling around footers.  The exposed old monitoring well was successfully plugged, and work began on moving the flow of the river to allow enough room to set bridge pieces.

Tuesday, March 13, 2018:  Crews continued to remove “key way” forms for bridge installation.  Eric Boyda assisted in getting approval from the Office of the State Engineer for the plugging plan at the monitoring well.  Statewide Drilling arrived on-site to plug the monitoring well.

Wednesday, March 14, 2018: Site prep and clean up continued for the placement of bridge pieces. Jace Ensor moved his crane to the airport to assist in the loading of bridge pieces, and Crane Services arrived at the bridge site to begin set-up crane for the bridge installation. Roper Construction prepared lifting and rigging materials.

Thursday, March 15, 2108: Setting of the bridge began at 9:30 AM, and all 16 bridge pieces were set in place and bolted together by 5:30 PM.

Anticipated progress for next week:

·      Grouting of the footers

·      Excavation of the of the overburden under the bridge

·      Begin digging out footings for the installation of Gabion Baskets
