The Village of Ruidoso is providing public notice regarding the Economic Development Administration’s NEPA/NHPA environmental review process for the proposed Upper Canyon Restoration & Revitalization Project in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Public comments related to potential environmental or historic property impacts will be accepted through June 28, 2026.

The Village of Ruidoso is inviting residents and property owners to participate in upcoming public meetings for the Ruidoso Bridge Replacements Project. Community members will have opportunities to review preliminary project information, ask questions, and provide feedback as planning and design work continues for six bridge replacement locations impacted by the Summer 2024 wildfires and flooding.

The Village of Ruidoso will host two public input meetings for the FY 2028–2032 Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP). Residents are encouraged to attend and provide feedback on future infrastructure needs, capital improvement priorities, and long-range community planning projects. Meetings will be held May 21 at the Ruidoso Community Center and May 27 at Village Hall.

Ruidoso will host the 2026 Outdoor Economics Conference October 14–16 at the Ruidoso Convention Center. The statewide event brings together leaders in government, industry, and tribal communities to explore outdoor recreation, economic development, and environmental stewardship across New Mexico.

Construction of the 603 Mechem Workforce Housing Development in Ruidoso is nearing completion, expanding long-term affordable housing for local residents. Paving, landscaping, and utility work continue, with final inspections underway on select homes as the Village moves closer to welcoming residents.

April 1, 2026: The Village of Ruidoso has released a draft 2026 floodplain map based on a recent hydrologic and hydraulic study. The interactive map includes both current (2025) and draft floodplain data, allowing residents to compare potential changes. Final adoption is pending approval by DHSEM and FEMA. Residents are encouraged to review the map to understand possible impacts.

The Village of Ruidoso has released its Top 10 capital projects for the 2026 Infrastructure Capital Improvements Plan, including the Top 5 priorities submitted for capital outlay funding in the upcoming legislative session. These projects focus on housing, infrastructure, watershed health, and flood mitigation to support long-term community resilience and growth.

The SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center at the Ruidoso Public Library closed permanently on Nov. 18, 2025. Residents, businesses, and nonprofits can still apply online at sba.gov/disaster. Independent retailers impacted by federally declared disasters may be eligible for up to $10,000 through the Economic Recovery Grant from Heart on Main Street. The SBA has opened a Business Recovery Center at ENMU–Ruidoso to assist those affected by July’s storms, flooding, and landslides. Elk Meadows, a 72-unit apartment community in Ruidoso, is now underway, offering modern, energy-efficient homes for local families and workers.
